Louis E. Freund, Professor, Industrial & Systems Engineering Department, San Jose State University, CA, USA,

Louis FreundDr. Freund has served on the faculty of the Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering at San Jose State University since 1986. He is the founder and Director of the graduate program in Human Factors/Ergonomics, and served as Department Chair for 8 years. He is the Director of the newly formed SJSU Center for Service Systems Engineering and Innovation (CSSEI). Building on his extensive systems engineering consulting experiences in hospitals and health systems, Dr. Freund designed and introduced an undergraduate course in Service Systems Engineering in 2005 which is now a required course in the BSISE curriculum. An MS emphasis area in Service Systems Engineering was initiated at SJSU in 2008. Dr. Freund is an IBM Faculty Award recipient for his work in Service Systems Engineering research and teaching. He also received a HIMSS “50 in 50” Award and is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE). He serves as an Advisor to the International Society of Service Innovation Professionals (ISSIP), and also as an ISSIP Ambassador to IIE and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES). His research interests are in modeling the “human side of co-production” on the quality of service encounters and devising a method for assessing and advancing the “T-shaped-ness” of service innovation professionals. He has been Co-Chair of HSSE 2012, HSSE 2014, and HSSE 2015.


Wojciech Cellary, Professor, Poznan University of Economics, Poznań, Poland,

W_Cellary_photo3_2Prof. Wojciech Cellary received the Ph.D. and Dr.Hab. degrees from the Poznan University of Technology. In 1989 he received the title of Professor. From 1974–1992 he was with the Poznan University of Technology, from 1987–1991 serving as the scientific director of the Institute of Computing Science. From 1992–1996 he served as the vice-president of the Franco-Polish School of Information and Communication Technologies. In 1996 he joined the Poznan University of Economics serving as the head of the Department of Information Technology. He has been a visiting professor at: University of Nancy I and II, Paris-Sud, Paris-Dauphine (France), Genova, and Ancona (Italy). He has lead numerous industrial projects on IT applications supported by Polish, French and American industry, Ministry of Science, and EU Framework Programmes. He served as a consultant to the Ministries of: Science, Education, Telecommunications, Interior, Administration and Regional Development, Parliament and Senate. He served as a President of the Council for Digitization, an advisory body to the Minister of the Interior. He has been a main organizer of 37 scientific conferences a member of PCs of 250 conferences. He is an author of 11 books, 16 chapters in books, and over 150 articles in journals and conference proceedings.
